KOH SIREY
SEA GYPSY VILLAGE
Koh Sirey is a very small island that is connected to Phuket by a bridge and it is here that you will find Thailand’s largest village of Sea Gypsies who have their own culture and language.
Life is not complicated here and the locals love having visitors come to look around.
There are no fancy restaurants or shops but there are lots of smiling happy people who will welcome you into their lives.
Sit down and watch a fisherman repairing his nets, help the girl’s open oysters or just play awhile with the children.
There is always a party or celebration happening at the sea gypsy village and you will be invited to join in and have a beer with them, such a friendly place to visit.
Koh Sirey is about a 10 minute drive from Phuket Town or a 30 minute drive from Patong.
