AMAZING BIKE TOURS
THAI MUANG TURTLES AND WATERFALLS
This was my second trip with Amazing Bike Tours and their tours are spot on – AMAZING – this tour was the Thai Muang Turtles and Waterfalls day tour.
Thai Muang is a small town on the Andaman Coast in between Phuket & Khao Lak. There were only 5 of us on the tour, we were picked up by minivan and taken to the Phuket Gateway where we all had a practice ride around the car park.
We rode our bikes over the Sarasin Bridges onto the mainland then after a few kilometres left the main road and cycled through villages, plantations etc. After about 15 kilometres which was a bit hard due to some boggy ground and extremely high humidity we stopped by the ocean for drinks and fruit.
This is where my sister (due to not feeling very well) and another girl decided to ride in the van. So now we are down to 3. I must say here that I am by far the eldest person left and my goal was to complete the whole 50 kilometres.
There were plenty of drink stops along the way as it was tough due to the very high humidity, plus there was a lot of wet boggy ground to get through. Off we go again and our destination is another 20 kilometres away where we will have lunch.
Well as luck would have it a few kilometres from the restaurant it started pouring with rain, but on we went, it was so hot and we were filthy from mud flying up etc.
Lunch was amazing with a well deserved break, there was so much food we couldn’t eat it all, delicious, then the plan was to ride to the Sea Turtle Sanctuary, have a look around then ride another 15 kilometres to a beautiful waterfall.
The 3 of us still riding were a bit surprised when at lunch the guide and driver put our bikes on top of the van and said we will continue by car due to rain. However, it had stopped raining and it did not rain again, so my goal of riding the whole 50 kilometres fell short.
Never mind, the Sea Turtle place was ok but the waterfall was beautiful and the water was icy cold, it is a slippery walk to get to the waterfall but once up there it was amazing! Very beautiful place.
Amazing Bike Tours are a fantastic way of seeing the countryside and I am looking forward to going on another tour with them next trip.
