Hill Tribe Restaurant at Bang Niang is the place to go for delicious traditional northern Thai dishes. Khun San from Chiang Rai takes great pride in his cooking, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the staff are helpful and friendly.
The restaurant opened in 2008 and is the first in Khao Lak to offer authentic northern Thai dishes, prices are very reasonable, and we recommend you book as word has got around and Hill Tribe is very popular with locals and tourists for lunch or dinner.

Make sure you try the Khantoke dinner, you are served an assortment of small Lanna style dishes such as Gaeng Hung Lay (Burmese Pork Curry), Gai Tod (Fried Chicken), Pad Puk (Fried Cabbage), Nam Prik Ong (chili, tomato and mince pork dip), Keb Moo (Fried Pork Rinds), accompanied with a basket of sticky rice.
You eat this dish by using your fingers to pull clumps of sticky rice from the basket and then scoop out a small amount of food from each of the dishes. Just sensational.
