OLD TAKUAPA TOWN

Old Takuapa Town is only 30 kilometers north of Khao Lak and most definitely worth a visit.

There are lovely quaint cafes, great local restaurants and wandering down the main street is a highlight in itself just looking at the old Sino Portuguese buildings and the friendly locals sitting out the front.

Some of these houses are beautiful, it is like stepping back in time and it is possible to go inside and look around, just look for signs out the front that allow this.

If you are there on Sunday make sure you go the famous Sunday market which starts mid afternoon, the main street is closed to traffic, try some of the delicious authentic food on offer.

Go for a walk along the riverfront, explore some of the Chinese Shrines and Temples. You will also notice many of the older generation still ride their pushbikes everywhere here.

Takuapa Town is a great place to visit.
