PHUKET TOWN
Many tourists do not bother to visit Phuket Town and some people eve say do not go there as there is nothing to see.
What a load of rubbish!!
There is so much to see and do that I could do a separate website just on Phuket Town. So, this page is mainly a photo page of a few different places to explore, eat and shop.
Phuket’s very first supermarket is still open, it is called Sin & Lee and use to have a huge selection of spices and supplies for restaurants and hotels. Sadly, it is now nowhere as big as it was to due to the major chain supermarkets and mainly sells books, but it is still a nice place to call into and have a look around and buy a drink.
You can go into some of the beautiful old shop houses, they are very narrow and seem to go back forever! One of these has been converted into the Old town Boutique Guesthouse and it still has the original stoves and a beautiful staircase.
Soi Romanee is also a very interesting street that started off as a place for prostitutes from Macau back in the tin mining days. Now the beautiful buildings have all been restored and there are some quaint little bars. Call into Torry’s for some delicious unique flavoured ice creams.
There are so many old Sino Portuguese shop houses, fantastic old Bakeries, Temples, Shrines, Markets, Mansions, Parks, Shops and Restaurants to see in Phuket Town.
So, we absolutely recommend spending some time here and it will take months to fully explore this fascinating area.
